Monday 10-22-18: Fallout 76’s Enclave and Lizard Dongs

Sorry y’all. I’m back now. Here’s the recent news.

  • The Enclave, Others Confirmed for Fallout 76
  • Lizard Dongs Penetrate Soulcalibur 6 Online

The Enclave in Fallout 76

Since it’s initial reveal, Fallout fans have speculated toward the inclusion of the Enclave in the upcoming multiplayer RPG by Bethesda. In the first reveal trailer, people saw a space station that they thought may be connected to the Enclave. But with the “no human NPC” rule, no one was certain.

Now, the Fallout Twitter has announced that the Enclave are, in fact, a part of the Fallout 76 game. They cite the group as a faction looking for a secret government bunker in Appalachia. I suspect they’re referring to Project Greek Island, the real-life bunker hidden under the Greenbrier Resort.

It’s not clear at this time how the faction will operate without NPCs, but I’m not the only one thinking it’ll be a faction that players run and operate. We’ll see. Doesn’t the BETA start tomorrow for Xbox One?

Lizard Dongs

Soulcalibur 6 released recently. And with it, we see the full potential of the character creator. Whether we like it or not. The online gameplay has been featuring a number of large-goobered lizard men.

As it turns out, if you use the cylinder, heart, and apple item in character creator, it looks ALOT like a boingus. Add in the humpnig motions of the Voldo fighting style, and you have one erotic combatant. Tweet of offending content embedded above. You’ve been warned.

Thank’s for reading everyone. I’m looking to make some formatting changes to the site here soon, stay tuned! Otherwise, come back tomorrow and have a good day and such.

Monday 10-15-18: Rockstar’s 100-Hour Work Week and Uber Eats’ Failed CoD Promo

Monday, halfway into October. Time flies. Here’s the news.

  • Rockstar’s 100 hour work week
  • Uber Eats’ Failed Promo

Rockstar Work

Dan Houser, Game Producer for Rockstar, has recently given some numeric insight into the development of the upcoming Red Dead Redemption 2. According to Houser, the team has worked harder on it than ever before, citing that they’ve been “working 100-hour weeks” to get the game done.

This revelation has sparked discussion amongst gaming communities. As much as players may want an amazing game, some feel that it shouldn’t come at the cost of 14-hour shifts, 7 days a week. Others are remarking on how this is a prime example of crunch time culture that’s become too common in the game development industry.

Uber Ate It

Uber held a promotion recently in collaboration with the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. The idea was: If you ordered a fish and chips through the Uber Eats app, you would be given a copy of the game for free, while supplies last.

To no surprise, supplies did NOT last. When folks tried to participate in the promo, they were met with “not supported” disclaimers, errors, and even having some orders invalidated after they were submitted. According to a representative, a total of 40 games were distributed to store locations for the promo. No, not 40 each store, 40 total.

All in all, Uber Eats has made far more enemies than loyal customers with this promo, that’s for sure.

Thanks for tuning in. Come back tomorrow for another news of the news day. Otherwise, have a great day!

Thursday: 10-11-18: Maple Story 2’s Launch and Ninja Theory’s Mental Health Scholarship

Thursday! News! Read.

  • Maple Story 2 Launch
  • Ninja Theory’s Mental Health Tutor Program

Maple Story 2

That’s right, ladies and gentlemen, Maple Story 2 has officially launched. This 3D sequel MMO was announced back in April and is not open to the public as a free to play game. Interested? Visit the Nexon website for more information.

Ninja Theory’s “Senua’s Scholarship”

The developers of Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice have partnered with the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust’s Recovery College East for National Mental Health Awareness day to initiate and fund what they call the Senua’s Scholarship. Those participating in the program will undergo an education to become a mental health tutor, as well as gain assistance in finding careers involving mental health. For more information, check out this video.

That’s all for today. Thanks for tuning in! Come back tomorrow for the Friday news post, assuming my calendar can still be trusted. Otherwise, have a great day.

Guacamelee

Tuesday 10-9-18: Guacamelee on Switch, Borderlands 2 VR, and Pikachu’s New Hat

What a better day than a Tuesday to announce some game stuff. Why? Don’t ask me. Here’s that news.

  • Guacamelee is Coming to Nintendo Switch
  • Borderlands 2 gets PSVR Treatment
  • Pikachu Wears a Douchey Hat

Guacamelee on Switch

According to developers Drinkbox Studios, the luchador style platformer (Metroidvania, I suppose) will be coming to the Nintendo Switch. The first game is actually available now in the Nintendo eShop, with the sequel to be made available later this year. If you’re a fan of the genre, and of Mexican food, I recommend taking a look.

Borderlands 2 VR

Gearbox has announced plans for a PlayStation VR adaption of their hit shooter from 2012, Borderlands 2. The game will feature standard VR controls, as well as a new BAMF mode, which temporarily slows time for everyone but the player. The VR adaptions will not support multiplayer, however. It releases on December 14 for $49.99. It’s a bit steep if you ask me. But Skyrim did the same thing, I suppose.

If it cost $30, I’d have been much more inclined to get it.

Pikachu’s new hat

Do you ever look at your Pokemon and wonder what it’d be like if they smoked JUULs and didn’t tip their waitress? Don’t worry! There’s a Pikachu for you. A new outfitted variation of the electric mouse has appeared in Pokemon GO recently, sporting a new, tilted cap. Players will also discover a new selection of clothing items for their avatars, also sporting the same thunderbolt logo.

Apparently, this is part of a collaboration between clothing company Fragment. Dubbed “Thunderbolt Project,” the company is releasing a line of real life, Pokemon-themed clothing some time next year. To promote the crossover, players can get these items in their game.

That’s all for today, folks. Thanks for tuning in. Come back tomorrow for another news post thing of the news. Yes. Otherwise, have a great day!

Monday 10-8-18: Nukes and Government Bunkers in Fallout 76

Not only am I still alive, I’m late to posting the news! Here is that news.

  • Project Greek Island is in Fallout 76
  • Watch a Nuke in Fallout 76

Fallout 76’s Project Greek Island

Bethesda recently held a special event at the Greenbrier Resort of West Virginia. Why? Because it’s the location of the now decommissioned Project Greek Island. For those who don’t know, this was a secret government bunker hidden under the Greenbrier Resort. The location has been confirmed as a place of interest within the game, though details on how remain a mystery.

Watch a Nuke in Fallout 76

Have you gathered yet that this weekend’s news is Fallout based? A writer for Comicbook.com recently posted new video footage, revealing just what a nuke blast looks like in-game. Full honesty, I didn’t watch it. I want the experience to remain pure for when I play it myself. But if you want to see, the video is embedded below.

Thank you folks for your patience in my inconsistent posting schedule. Things have been very busy lately and my personal site is suffering accordingly. Tune in tomorrow for more news. I promise. Otherwise, have a great night!

Friday 9-28-18: Fallout 76 BETA Launch Date, PlayStation All Stars Online Servers, and Fortnite’s Boob Physics

Welcome to the Friday! I’m your host, Branden! Here’s the news.

  • Fallout 76 BETA Date
  • Sony All Stars Closing
  • Fortnite Jiggle Physics

Fallout 76 BETA Details

So last we heard, the Break it Early Test Application for the upcoming Fallout 76 would be taking place in October. This led to some discussion regarding its timing. Since the game launches mid-November, having a beta a month prior seems too soon to actually help.

Well, now we know exactly when the BETA begins. It will start on October 23 on Xbox One, with the remaining consoles getting access on October 30. Being a stress test, it will happen on select days for 4 to 8 hour spans of time. This will happen until “a few days before” the games formal launch.

Let’s be real, this is absolutely a play-it-early preorder bonus more than it’s a bug fixing event. At least they’re actually treating it like a stress test with the designated play times. More information on the beta can be found on the Bethesda FAQ. Fallout 76 releases on consoles and PC on November 14.

PlayStation All Stars

According to a notice listed on the game’s store page, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale will be shutting down their online services on October 25.

As you might expect, this means no online multiplayer. Offline solo and couch co-op play will still function as normal.

I don’t blame you for this one, Sony.

Fortnite Boobs

In the most recent update for Fortnite, users noticed a new physics feature on their character models. The new Calamity Cowgirl skin had jiggle physics on their breasts. When paired with one of the bouncier emotes, Jubilation to be precise, the character’s chest went from the usual stiffness to a noticeable shake. Epic Games has since issued a statement, calling the feature embarrassing and an accident.

Current speculation is that this was added in by the devs as a joke, and it wasn’t removed before launch. This has happened in games before. Fortnite also has a history of accidentally leaving features in that it shouldn’t have. Funny enough, the biggest example was cross-play support on PlayStation.

That’s all for today folks, thanks for tuning in. Check back Monday for a new week of game news. Otherwise, have a great night!

Oculus Quest

Thursday 9-27-18: Fallout 76 Not Crossplay, Red Dead 2’s 105GB Size, Oculus’s Standalone VR System

look! I’m doing news! Here is that news.

  • Fallout 76 Won’t Have Crossplay
  • Red Dead 2 is 105GB Large
  • The new “Oculus Quest” VR Headset

Fallout 76 Crossplay

Remember a bit back when Bethesda harshed on PlayStation for not supporting crossplay? Well now that they (kinda) do, The game studio has stepped back out to say that their upcoming RPG will not support crossplay in general. Bethesda boss Pete Hines remarked, saying that while the idea isn’t impossible in the future, their focus on the upcoming BETA and launch means the idea is not possible right now.

Red Dead 2 is Large

There’s a promo with the upcoming Red Dead Redemption 2. Interested consumers can purchase a PS4 Pro bundled with the game. An image of the bundle box has revealed a few things about the game. PS4 players will be given exclusive content, the game will support up to 32 players, and you will need 105GB of hard drive space. That’s 1/3rd the size of a base PS4’s default hard drive, oof. That’s a big game.

Oculus Quest

Oculus, one of the leading VR hardware organizations, has announced a new project under the name “Quest.” This is a standalone VR system. That means no PC needed, no phone, no console, just a wire-free VR setup. The system will support various Oculus games, citing ” Robo Recall, The Climb, and Moss” as examples. The entire system will cost a total of $399. No word on how “good” it is yet.

If this is as good as it seems, it may be the best introductory VR setup yet.

That’s all for today, folks. Thanks for reading. Tune in tomorrow for one more news before the weekend. Otherwise, have a great day!

Monday 9-24-18: Telltale’s Closing, Death Stranding Trailer, and Tomb Raider’s Other Ending

It’s a new week, and lot’s of news has occurred. Here’s that news.

  • Telltale Shuts Down
  • Death Stranding ft. Troy Baker
  • Tomb Raider’s Unintended Ending

Telltale’s Final Story

It is with a heavy heart that I report on the closing of game studio Telltale Games. This news has reverberated through the online gaming community since it’s announcement on Twitter over the weekend. The majority of the staff have been let go, and the only remaining crew members are those working with Netflix to fulfill their obligations toward the Minecraft Story mode TV Series (or was it a movie?).

In response, a number of major game studios have tweeted out their willingness to hire on any of the telltale staff that lost their jobs. Examples include Ubisoft, Gearbox, and Sony Santa Monica. That’s nice of them.

My sympathies to the Telltale staff.

Troy Standing

A new game trailer released for the upcoming Death Stranding, by Kojima and Guillermo Del Torro. In it, a man in a golden mask and the voice of Troy Baker has interrupted the protagonist’s progress by summoning a giant dog-like beast thing. Don’t ask me what it means, I couldn’t tell you.

Tomb Raider’s Other Ending

It would seem that the recently released Shadow of the Tomb Raider wasn’t quite done when it launched. If you do not download the day 1 patch for the game, the final cutscene will be different.

In the unpatched version, the camera pans toward different objects, the lighting looks warmer, there’s no music, and the animation is less fluid. When compared to the patched ending, it certainly looks like they still hadn’t fully worked out the ending.

That’s all for today, thanks for tuning in! Come back tomorrow for more news and such things. Otherwise, have a great day!

Earth Defense Force 5

Friday 9-21-18: Download PS Now Games and Earth Defense Force 5 Release Details

Hello, everyone! How about some news to get the day already started?

  • PlayStation Lets You Download PS Now Games
  • Earth Defense Force 5 Release Details

PlayStation Now

Now, PS Now users can download PS2 and PS4 games for offline access. For those unfamiliar, PS Now is a paid service where users gain access to a wide library of games, streamed to the player over the cloud. Now you can download them for offline play. These games will be playable for as long as your PS Now subscription remains active.

Personally, I like this. My internet service provider is unreliable a lot of the time. I’d feel safer having them available offline.

Earth Defense Force 5 Release Details

I’m looking forward to this. I used to play the older games when I was younger. But that’s not the news, this is. Earth Defense Force 5 will be coming to the West as a digital download only, no physical release, on December 11. It’ll be a full price game and will offer a deluxe edition with bonus rewards for more.

The work week is nearly complete! Man, I’m tired. Tune in Monday for a new week of news. Otherwise, have a great weekend!

Thursday 9-20-18: The Toad Trend, PlayStation Classic, and Red Dead Online

It was hectic, but the news is here once more.

  • The Toad Trump Conundrum
  • The PlayStation Classic
  • Rockstar Confirms Red Dead Online

Trump’s Toad

Ok so.. Let’s just get this out of the way now, shall we? In her memoirs, porn actress Stormy Daniels remarks about American president Trump’s genitals. She, more specifically, stated that she “lay there, annoyed that I was getting f@#ked by a guy with Yeti pubes and a dick like the mushroom character in Mario Kart”

As you can understand, the gaming community took this information and ran with it hard. Twitter exploded with GIFs and images of the Mario Character, news sites reported most humorously on it.

If you felt bad for Waluigi not being in Smash Bros, imagine what Toad is going through.

PlayStation Classic

Sony has recently announced their own mini-retro console. Based on the original PlayStation, this console is about half the size and comes with 20 pre-loaded games. It’ll also natively support HDMI output. It’s available for pre-order and will release in the near future for $99.99.

The community isn’t very happy about the reveal, however. The full game list has not been revealed, making many believe it’s not that worthwhile of a collection. They also find the price a bit too high. When you compare it to the NES Mini, it’s clear inspiration, it has 10 fewer games and costs $40 more.

Red Dead Online

It’s no surprise to hear, but Rockstar has officially confirmed the inclusion of online multiplayer for the upcoming Red Dead Redemption 2. They claim the feature will have narrative, solo and cooperative content, all that jazz. Given the direction that Grand Theft Auto Online went, this makes sense. Does this mean those with fat pockets will be riding around on rocket horses shooting old western rocket launchers? Time will tell.

That’s all for today, folks. Tune in tomorrow for more. Sorry I missed yesterday, it was a busy day. Otherwise, have a great night.

Tuesday 9-18-19: Kingdom Hearts 3’s Box Art, Fortnite’s Port-A-Fortress

Hello everyone! It’s been a rough start to the morning, but let’s get to that news, shall we?

  • Kingdom Hearts 3 Box Art
  • Fortnite’s Build-A-Fortress

Kingdom Hearts III Box Art

Square Enix released another press release for the upcoming Disney RPG. While the focus was intended on the trailer, which showed Sora with the Big Hero Six team, fans have taken a far greater interest in the box art reveal that was included. I’ve attached it in its normal size above, no cropping.

Port-A-Fortress

Not too long ago, Fortnite released a port-a-fort grenade. The deployable item instantly builds a tower for the player to take advantage of. Now they’re returning for something far more dramatic. A recent update for the battle royale game has introduced the Port-A-Fortress item, which instantly builds a large base. The update also includes a new area for Playground mode, called Spiky Stadium, as well as a few changes for Save The World mode.

That’s all for today. Thanks for tuning in. Come back tomorrow for another post, as usual. Otherwise, have a great day.

Monday 9-17-18: Buy Switch Online With Gold Points, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Livestreamed on Switch, and Pete Hines has Future Console Secrets

Welcome back, everyone. It’s time for another week of video game news.

  • Nintendo Switch Online Can Be Bought With Gold Points
  • Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is Streamed on Switch
  • Pete Hines Knows About Future Consoles

Online from Gold

According to Nintendo’s FAQ for their upcoming Switch Online service, users can purchase a subscription using their Nintendo Gold Points.

  • Can I use My Nintendo Gold Points to purchase the Nintendo Switch Online membership?
  • Gold Points can be used when purchasing a membership in the Nintendo eShop. They cannot be used for auto-renewal.

It’s not clear how many points it’ll cost. But hey, it’s an option. Switch Online launches tomorrow, September 18.

Odyssey for Switch is a Cloud Game

You may recall that when Resident Evil 7 was coming to Nintendo Switch in Japan, it did so using streamed gameplay. This meant that the graphics were rendered on a computer server and live-streamed to the Switch, instead of the console handling the processing. This allowed the game to have better quality graphics at the cost of being a subscription and requiring an internet connection.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey will be getting the same treatment. In Japan only, the RPG title will be released as a live-streamed game for the Nintendo Switch. It too will have “rental” options available. The announcement was made in Japan’s Nintendo Direct last week.

Pete Hines’ Console Secrets

The VP of Global Marketing and Communications for Bethesda has been hard at work talking about the company’s upcoming titles. Despite all the talking, he still has some secrets he’s not willing to share. But these secrets are about the next console generation, instead of the new Doom.

“I am curious to see what it looks like and how it’s different. I’m privy to some stuff which obviously I can’t really talk about, but there is also a lot that I’m not sure on what it’s going to look like. And more importantly how big a shift we can expect.”

The statement was made in an interview with the Telegraph, where Hines talked about a number of Bethesda’s projects. With games like Elder Scrolls 6 and Starfield so far ahead on the timeline, it’s understandable to expect them on the next console generation.

That’s all for today, tune in next time for more interesting video game news. Otherwise, have a great day!
