Friday 6-22-18: Dead or Alive Xtreme Pulling Clothes, No More Friday the 13th DLC, and More Burnout-Style Games

It’s a mildly warm, moderately damp Friday, folks. Make of that what you will. Here’s the news.

  • Dead or Alive Xtreme Update Pulls Clothing
  • No More DLC for Friday the 13th
  • Burnout Devs Making Two New Games

Dead or Alive Extreme Venus Vacation

It started with beach volleyball, it evolved into casual and mildly erotic lounging on a vacation island, and eventually grew into something not even allowed in the United States. Dead or Alive Extreme Venus Vacation is the latest in the line of these games. With a new update, the game now includes clothes tugging. If you’re familiar with the franchise, then this is simply another Dead or Alive Extreme game. If you aren’t familiar, well you can watch the trailer.

Friday the 13th DLC

Do you recall the Friday the 13th game released last year? It was an asymmetrical horror action game where one player controls Jason while the 4 others are camp counselors. A while back, the game was experiencing some difficulties legally. A copyright lawsuit between the director of the original Friday the 13th movie, Sean Cunningham, and the film’s writer, Victor Miller had broken out, leaving the game in a rather stuck state. Recently developer head Wes Keltner made a statement regarding how this will affect future content for the game. He explained that while the dispute is active, they cant add ANYTHING to the game, copyrighted or otherwise. He also explained that when you put on hold for so long like this, starting back up again “when its over” is almost impossible. For these reasons, the studio will not be producing any more content for the game, and will only be providing bug fixes and server management. My sympathies for those who play the game.

Not More Burnout Games

Remember the crazy crashes and wreckage of Burnout? What if I told you that former Burnout creators Fiona Sperry and Alex Ward made their own company, Three Fields Entertainment, and plan to release two new games, both with a focus on crashing and chaos? Regardless of what you think, that’s already happening. The company has announced Danger Zone 2 and Dangerous Driving.

Danger Zone 2 is the sequel to the “Crash Zone” style game released years prior. This time, you’re busting your way into city streets. Dangerous Driving is an arcade racer featuring crashes, boosts, and other hectic ideas. More Info on these games as it becomes available.

That’s all for today, thanks for reading! I’ve been aching for this weekend, that’s for sure. Tune in Monday for more news. Otherwise, have a great day.

Friday 1-5-18: Mad Catz, Paladins: Battlegrounds, Burnout Paradise HD, and Pokemon GO in China.

Friday is here and I cannot be happier its the weekend. Work killed me this week. Here’s the news.

  • Mad Catz is making a comeback
  • Paladins announced a Battle Royale mode
  • Burnout Paradise HD Remaster in Japan
  • Pokemon GO in China

Mad Catz Cant Stop won’t Stop
The popular gaming peripheral creator was 27 years old last year when they filed for bankruptcy. This caused an upset stir amongst gamers, who had grown to know the Mad Catz brand as that controller you’re parents would get when they didn’t want to buy officially licensed controllers. Turns out they’re not done yet. A video announcement was made saying that Mad Catz is back again, this time branding themselves as high-end gaming gear to compete with brands like Razor. GG Mad Catz, keep on living the dream.

Paladins: Battlegrounds
That title sounds like a joke, but it isn’t. Paladins have announced that they are working to release a new update to the game, featuring a new game mode called Battlegrounds. As you may expect, this is a battle royale style game mode, pitting 100 players against each other to be the last one standing. The free-to-play aspect of Paladins attracted many fans to the hero shooter, though it looks like being the poor man’s Overwatch wasn’t enough. Personally, I’m fairly disinterested in this bandwagoning. You can watch the announcement trailer here.

Burnout Paradise HD
Early December we heard rumors of an HD remake of the open world racing game coming to consoles worldwide. the rumors were based on retailer listings. Now EA has announced that a Burnout Paradise HD Remaster will be coming to PlayStation 4 in Japan on March 16. While it seems the rumors are true, this brings up the question. What about the rest of the world? Its possibly Sony manages an exclusivity deal, though we really have nothing but speculation to go on right now. Maybe time will tell. I used to play Paradise, great game.

Pokemon GO in China
The mobile game was originally banned in China due to government concerns. Niantic has recently announced that they are partnering with Chinese publisher NetEase to bring the game to the country. They are looking to make the game ready by the second half of 2018. Good for China.

That’s all! Thank goodness. I’d love to say how ready I am to relax this weekend, but I have a hefty backlog of journalism work to catch up on. Tomorrow will be a pretty long day of work as well. Though I derive much more enjoyment from this job than my day job. My favorite part is writing your you, the reader! Check back Monday to hear what cool news has happened this weekend. Otherwise, have a great night!
