Shirley Curry, the elderly YouTube let’s player, won many of our hearts with her wholesome playthroughs of games like Elder Scrolls: Skyrim. One modder is honoring her by making her into an NPC follower in the game.
Shirley Curry is an 82-year-old gamer with a decent-sized following on YouTube. She’s best known for her Skyrim playthrough, spanning over 300 episodes at this point. Her gentle demeanor and wholesome outlook cultivated an even more gentle and wholesome community.
Skyrim modder Daniel Kemp has released a teaser trailer, revealing plans to develop a Skyrim mod that adds Shirley as an NPC follower.
“Shirley will be available as a follower on the Nexus in early 2020. We will provide continuous updates as we add more content, and further down the line a quest-line will be added centered around Shirley herself.”
The character will emulate Shirley’s preferred combat style in her videos, a classic barbarian style with two-handed weapons and light armor. She’ll be available in both classic and remastered Skyrim. The developer even remarks on wanting her to be able to read books to the player. And don’t worry, the project has Shirley’s approval.
Last time we talked about Shirley, it was in regard to a petition her fans started to ask Bethesda to immortalize her in Elder Scrolls 6. While we don’t know if that’s officially happening, we do know that the efforts resulted in Shirley visiting the Bethesda headquarters and meeting Todd Howard himself.
The mod will be available on Nexus sometime early this year.
The efforts and accomplishments of the Shirley Curry community continue to warm my heart. The internet can be a pretty rude and cynical place., so it’s really nice seeing a consistent source of positive vibes and behavior from a community. You’re doing great things, folks.
