Wednesday 8-1-18: Animal Crossing New Leaf Beats Wild World, Yakuza 0 on PC, and Stardew Valley Multiplayer

Alrighty y’all. Some stuff released, and some sales were made. Let’s hear about it in today’s news.

  • Yakuza 0 Available on PC
  • Animal Crossing New Leaf Better than Wild World
  • Stardew Valley Formal Multiplayer

Yakuza Steam

The award-winning prequel to the Japanese RPG has officially released on PC via Steam. Go fight thugs, eat food, karaoke, all that fun stuff. It’s a great game and I’ll likely get it for myself. It costs $19.99. Have fun.

Animal Crossing Leads

Nintendo’s Q1 financial report is published. And with it, we learn that everyone’s favorite Animal Crossing game wasn’t actually the most popular one. As of June 30, New Leaf had sold 11.78 million units, surpassing the 11.75 million total units sold for Animal Crossing: Wild World on the Nintendo DS. This came as a surprise to me. I assumed that New Leaf was the most popular one by far, since I heard about that one more in online and in-person communities than any other game. Though I’m not TOO surprised, Wild World was an absolute treasure. New Leaf is no doubt an improvement, though.

Stardew Multiplayer, For Real

As I’m sure interested parties have heard, Stardew Valley has multiplayer. But now, it’s official. Until now, it’s only been available as part of the public, opt-in beta. Now it’s being updated into the base game on PC. Publisher Chucklefish has stated that it will be coming to Nintendo Switch next, with other console versions to follow. Have fun farming, everyone!

Thanks for reading. It’s a good day for news. Tune in tomorrow for another news post regarding video games. Otherwise, have a great day!

The Forest Launches

After four years in development, the survival horror game is finally having a full release. This means Version 1.0, folks! The developers made the announcement in a Steam Blog post. The update will come with a flurry of content additions, and a promise for VR support toward the latter end of May. Congratulations EndNight Games!

Fortnite Comet Conclusion

I previously reported on weirdness with Comets at Fortnite. While I predicted the conclusion would come May 4, it seems that it happened today. Epic Games released an announcement trailer for the next season of the game. The trailer shows a meteor shower ending in one noticeably large comet crashing down, and cracking when players came to investigate. I told y’all it would be a season 4 thing.

That’s all we got for today. Sorry if it’s short, I’m a bit rushed this morning. Come back tomorrow for another day of news. Email me fun facts about Mass Effect! I have to record that tomorrow. Otherwise, have a great day!

Wednesday 3-14-18: Man Cannons, Multiplayer, and Tomb Raiders

It’s the day of the week where I promise to stop just saying what day of the week it is at the start of my introductions. Here’s the news.

  • Microsoft shoots a man out of a cannon
  • Stardew Valley multiplayer
  • Tomb Raider teaser gets debunked

Cannon Man

To celebrate the near-launch of their upcoming pirate game, Sea of Thieves, Microsoft shoot a man out of a cannon. You can watch the video of it on their twitter post. David “The Bullet” Smith flew 200 feet through the air onto a giant inflatable cushion. The Guinness World Records even confirmed it to be a new world record for farthest distance of shooting a man out a cannon. Neat.

Stardew Valleys, Plural

According to a tweet by developer ConcernedApe, the multiplayer update for Stardew Valley has entered the QA (Quality Assurance) phase. This means it’s nearly ready for launch. The highly anticipated feature will also come with a number of new content. If you like a casual farm life game, then I recommend playing this game. It’s only $15, I believe.

Tomb Raided

If you visit the Tomb Raider web page, it’s a single image telling people to tune in tomorrow for a surprise. One clever individual noticed that if you read the client-side HTML of the site (right click, view source), it reveals what the announcement is going to be [spoilers]. Shadow of the Tomb Raider, the final game in the series, will be available September 14th, 2018, for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Good security work there, Microsoft.

Thanks for reading, everyone! Today was a nice news day. There was cool stuff. Come back tomorrow for more news. That’s not a suggestion. You will come back tomorrow. All days here on out, you shall return. you WILL return. Otherwise, have a great night!

Thursday 12-21-17: iOS Loot Boxes, Stardew Valley Update, and Psychonauts 2 Delays

Thursday.
That’s it. I tried to think of a funny quip, came up with nothing. Here’s the news!

  • Apple Changes iOS Guidelines for Lootboxes
  • Stardew Valley Dev Lists Upcoming Changes
  • Psychonauts 2 is Delayed

Apple Guidelines
In a recent change to the iOS guidelines, app developers are required to display the odds of loot boxes if they are purchasable with microtransactions. Odds are this is to comply with Chinese regulations, something Valve and many other developers have had to conform to in order to have their games in China. The downside to this is that it only pertains to direct purchase loot boxes, so any randomized crate like items purchased via premium currency are not required to follow this rule.

Stardew Valley Updates
Developer ConcernedApe recently tweeted out some details about what to expect with the upcoming update to Stardew Valley. They are as follows:

The game has been received warmly on the Switch, but regardless what you’re playing on, expect these changes soon.

Psychonauts 2 Delay
Double Fine Productions announced in a backer update post that the scope of the game has exceeded what previously expected and that the game will not be ready by 2018. They don’t have a solid release timeframe, but we know it isn’t next year. In the same update, they detail some of the protagonist’s family. You can see all of this here.

Thanks for reading, everyone! It makes me happy that I can write about the things I’m passionate about, and I’m glad that you all can share in that with me. Be sure to check back tomorrow for the last post of the week. Odds are there won’t be a post Monday since its Christmas. I might, if I have time. Otherwise, Have a great night!
