Join Branden as he discusses the world famous arcade game, Tetris.

You can find Tetris on almost any gaming platform. But if you want it on PC, try Tetris Ultimate, available on the Humble Store for $15. There’s also Puyo Puyo Tetris and Tetris Effect that are some recent editions of the franchise.

Interested in Justine’s book, King of Fools? I can be purchased for $4 as an eBook on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, or on the publisher website.

Thursday 6-7-18: Tetris Effect Looks Amazing, and Itch.io Puts Steam on Blast

I missed the news yesterday, I apologize. Here’s today’s news, instead.

  • Tetris Effect Looks Too Good
  • Itch.io Puts Steam on Blast

Tetris Effect

Sony has announced a new Tetris game, called Tetris Effect. We don’t know much about the title, other than it seems to be a homage to the classic game slathered in beautiful modern graphics. According to screenshots, it looks like the modern love child of the designers for Bejeweled and Geometry Wars. In reality, it’s designed by Tetsuya Mizuguchi and Enhance Games, the people behind REZ. If you haven’t seen it yet, I highly recommend watching the announcement trailer. It’s beautiful.

Itch.io Blasting Steam

Valve, the largest online game distribution service, recently announced that they will “allow everything onto the Steam Store, except for things that we decide are illegal, or straight up trolling.” This has caused an upset in the gaming community. Many believe this will only encourage low-quality content to flood the markets. Itch.io founder Leaf Corcoran is more concerned with the allowance of toxic content.

“A platform that allows ‘everything, unless it’s illegal or straight up trolling’ is ridiculous,” Corcoran said. “Please keep your malicious, derogatory, discriminatory, bullying, harassing, demeaning content off [itch.io]. Our ban buttons are ready.”

This is another instance of Itch.io making a point to be a good alternative to Steam, and many developers have already taken to moving their content there.

That’s all for today. Tune in tomorrow for another news post round0-up thing. Otherwise, have a great day!
